On the 27th of March, Marvel announced an enormous line-up for the upcoming 2026 blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday, which included the likes of; Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, Anthony Mackie, Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Robert Downey Jr., Ian McKellen and so, so much more. Like seriously it’s nuts how much they did announce and that I’m sitting here writing about who they DIDN’T announce.
But with a cinematic event this large, and the current marvel talent roster absolutely stacked it is without a doubt that there are more cast members they’re choosing to keep secret for now. Especially with this being the climactic end to the multiverse saga, in which the film will feature characters from the old 2000’s X-Men films, it feels like this list was a way to get us to cheer to distract us with some of the other things they want to remain a secret. So, without further ado, let’s start speculating!
The Sony Spider-Men – Tobey Maguire & Andrew Garfield

There’s been a lot of speculation about the return of both Maguire and Garfield since they graced the screen as Peter Parker back in No Way Home. Whilst I’m uncertain on if Tom Holland will sit out this Avengers film as he has his own flick between the next to Avengers films, I am quietly confident that will see at least one, if not both of these Spider-Men return to fill that Spidey shaped hole during Avengers: Doomsday. I will not rest until I get set photos of Spider-Man!
Hugh Jackman & Halle Berry – Wolverine & Storm

With the return of the 2000’s X-Men we received a lot of news about returning characters from the original Fox films. But two notable exceptions we’re left out in Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry, whilst Hugh Jackman has already made a return to the character in the most recent Deadpool & Wolverine film, he has remained firm that he’s unsure if he’d do another film as Logan, as the physical demands are quite steep. Halle Berry’s Storm also has been left out from the casting line-up, whilst Halle Berry has stated in the past she would be open to returning to the character she has recently shut down any rumours she will appear. But ever since Andrew Garfield lied to the world for months about No Way Home it’s hard to accept any truths until the film is released.
The Daredevils – Charlie Cox & Ben Affleck

Charlie Cox has made the shift to the MCU as Matthew Murdock as a fan-favourite and whilst I’m optimistic we’ll see Cox, I’m not super confident he would appear in Doomsday, I am however more confident we’d see Ben Affleck don the red again. Strange take I admit, however, after the success the previous Marvel films have had in giving actors the opportunity to farewell or “do it right” to characters from their past, I can see Affleck’s Daredevil get a moment, if even brief, to receive a proper send off much like many other Marvel Fox characters.
The Fantastic Four – Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffudd, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, Michael B. Joran, Miles Teller, Kate Mara & Jamie Bell

With the Fantastic Four seemingly playing huge part in the upcoming film as a way to bridge the two universes together I’m sure we’ll see the return of previous F4 characters in some capacity. More so again the original 2000’s Fox cast as the 2015 cast don’t receive as much love or praise for their outing. Although, a fan-casting of Miles Teller as an evil twisted version of Reed Richards known as The Maker, might have some traction to it.
A New Spider-Man – Miles Morales

Whilst not a returning cast member or even a casting to pair with this, Marvel has grown the popularity of Miles Morales in the last few years. After skyrocketing due to the success of Into The Spider-Verse and Sony’s Spider-Man (PS4) game, the character is long overdue for a live-action appearance. Even Tom Holland himself has campaigned for the character to be introduced soon now that his Peter is an adult and moving into a more mentor like role.
Nic Cage – Ghost Rider

I don’t know how, I’m don’t know why. But let this man pull funny faces and do stupid motorcycle stunts. If the MCU is seeking to do a Fox vs Disney like event film with these characters it’d be unfortunate not to include other Fox properties that helped shape the landscape. Nic Cage played an okay Johnny Blaze, and Marvel has garnered a reputation of doing some real random cameos and Nic Cage’s Ghost Rider would absolutely fit that bill.
