An external inquiry began on Monday, 10 July, into the closure of Whyalla’s birthing unit.
Western Australian nurse and midwifery leader Peta Fisher is leading the state government’s week-long review, analysing the workforce issues resulting in the temporary closure that began on June 26.
Ms Fisher may call on local health professionals for information throughout her review.

The Advertiser reports Health Minister Chris Picton is pleased Ms Fisher will lead the review, saying she brings a fresh perspective to the situation.
In the meantime, the local health network are still working on recruiting qualified staff.
