The number of Southern Right Whales off South Australia’s south coast are tipped to be at a 16-year low according to a whale census conducted every August between Fremantle and Ceduna.
This has been one of the worst years for whale counting, with about 320 recorded this year, compared to around 530 last year.
Whales aren’t the only species missing this year, a lower number of seabirds has also been noted.
