A vulnerable bird species is making the most of the Eyre Peninsula’s inland salt lakes during non-breeding season.
Winter surveys undertaken by the Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board and National Parks and Wildlife SA between Streaky Bay and Port Lincoln found promising Hooded Plover numbers.

This year, two birds were seen at Lake Newland, four were observed at Sleaford Mere, 11 were found at Lake Hamilton, and 15 were spotted at the Warrow Lakes.
These surveys are completed every two years.
