South Australia’s exports have reached record levels, with Trade and Investment Minister Nick Champion attributing it to our improved relationship with China.
“To grow on to 17.9 billion over 12 months ending November 2023, there’s a 12 per cent increase and a really great outcome,” Minister Champion says.
Some growing exports include barley and seafood.
“Our improved relationship with China – that’s been sponsored by the Federal Government – has really meant that barley exports for instance are now growing greatly.”
Viterra’s first shipment of South Australian grain departed the Port Lincoln terminal for China in November last year – the first shipment since the removal of China’s tariff on Australian barley exports.
