Share on Eyre is back, starting yesterday, 11 June, with a free barbeque on the Port Lincoln foreshore.
This year, West Coast Youth and Community Support are asking for non-perishable food items, swags and tents, and daily living items (like toiletries) to give to those in need.
Local businesses are jumping on board and offering their offices as donation destinations, including Eyre Peninsula Broadcasters, Drakes Port Lincoln, Kemp Real Estate, Bendigo Bank Port Lincoln and Cummins, and Priceline Port Lincoln.
West Coast Youth CEO Narelle Biddell says they’ve already seen a lot of support.
“Once again, I’m all emotional because I can just see the support from all the businesses and the community coming down, it’s just going to be another fantastic campaign,” Biddell said.
She said they’re not accepting clothing donations this year because they still have so much left over from last year’s donations.
“This year we’re focusing on swags and tents, as well as non-perishable food items, and we’ve got a list of things that would help out somebody that was particularly sleeping rough and may not have the ability to cook items, as well as your toiletries and your sanitary items.
“We’ve also got some cafes that are paying it forward so people can donate meals through the cafes.”
