LGBTIQA+ residents on the EP are facing an uphill battle when it comes to education and employment opportunities.
The Pinnacle Foundation reported 42 per cent of Australians perceive certain industries as stereotypically straight, including mining, engineering, building and construction.
The Foundation has launched its scholarship and mentoring program to help young members of the LGBTIQA+ community pursue their goals.
Pinncale Foundation Managing Director and CEO Andrew Staite says they’re particularly keen to see applications from regional residents.
Mr Staite says the organisation understands that members of the community in remote areas may feel isolated and want to relocate for a new chapter, and the Pinnacle Foundation are there with financial support for those studying.
Individuals can apply for a scholarship at https://thepinnaclefoundation.org/.
