A national committee discussed the recovery of the endangered Australian sea lion at an Adelaide conference yesterday.
The committee – led by SA’s Department for Environment and Water – will assist the Australian Government in creating a new recovery and conservation plan to action throughout 2023.
SA oceans are home to about 80% of Australia’s sea lion population, and the Malinauskas government says they are committed to protecting the vulnerable mammal.
Deputy Premier Susan Close says the Australian sea lion is a unique feature in our seas and coastline, which is why the state government is taking the lead on protecting and regenerating their numbers.
