Local residents and politicians gathered yesterday for the official opening of the newly revamped Kimba medical centre.
Upgrades to the Leo J. Schaefer Memorial Health Centre, which includes seven consultation rooms, renovated waiting areas and a room for dentistry, was partially funded through the Radioactive Waste Management Facility Community Benefit Scheme, with the total cost of the upgrades just under one million dollars.
Speaking to the station last year when the facility opened its doors, Kimba Mayor Dean Johnson (pictured) said the the revamped centre will be a massive incentive for GP’s to come and work in the local community.
