Port Lincoln road woes continue

Community frustrations about failed highway works and unwanted intersection changes have once again made it to Parliament.

Member for Flinders Sam Telfer raised the concerns.

“The latest episode has seen the fourth fix-up of the intersection between the Tod and Flinders Highways and the Western Approach Road coming into Port Lincoln, Mr Telfer says.

“It’s now more than two years since the original work started on these roads – years of speed limits, years of road restrictions, years of impact on businesses and individual access into properties, years of failed works.”

He also accused the Department for Infrastructure and Transport of bulldozing over the community’s concerns regarding key intersection works on Liverpool Street.

“The Department have proposed removing the left-turn slipways on these intersections despite continued opposition from the community, including during the formal consultation process.

“Their concerns are about the impact this will have on daily movements of freight, school drop-offs, business access, and peak hour traffic.

“These concerns have seemingly been ignored by the Minister and Department.”
