Restoration works on Point Lowly Cottages are finally making visible progress since their closure in early 2021.
The heritage-listed facility’s long-awaited upgrade has primarily consisted of preparation for construction works, but Whyalla Mayor Phill Stone says you can now see external progress with the new concrete slabs completed last week.
He says with the foundation work done, there will be rapid progress in the next few months to get the tourism drawcard on the Northern Coastline back up and running.
Timber framework for the extensions will start this week, and Council are working with SA Heritage and Plan SA to ensure renovations are in line with heritage requirements.
