More drought relief is finally on its way to our local farmers.
The State Government has announced a $55 million package of support to help farmers cope with the ongoing drought conditions.
This comes during one of our state’s most devastating dry spells.
Primary Industries Minister Clare Scriven said the package offers a suite of practical and targeted relief, and includes additional funding for on-farm infrastructure grants and support for charities to transport donated hay to starving animals.
As part of the package, there will also be rebates from the emergency services levy and vehicle registration fees, as well as funding for mental health support.
The new support package builds upon the original $18 million that was announced late last year, amid calls that it was not enough for our local producers.
