Local farmers are breathing a sigh of relief after dodging proposed changes to the Grain Harvesting Code of Practice.
The code applies to the harvesting of any flammable crop, and Member for Flinders Sam Telfer says changes proposed by the Country Fire Service would have meant stricter rules that would cause lost production, longer harvests and potential losses to grain growers.
Mr Telfer says these changes were avoided thanks to the strong voices of farmers and regional MP’s, and support from Grain Producers SA.
