The hard work of CFS volunteers in our region was recognised in Parliament for International Firefighters Day last week.
Member for Flinders Sam Telfer took a moment to acknowledge the hard work done in Region 6, saying the volunteers in Port Lincoln play a vital role in protecting the entire Eyre Peninsula.
“To the team there at Region 6, it was a pleasure to be able to visit, to see the facilities, to see the equipment, but also to hear the stories of where there are shortcomings within those facilities,” Telfer said in Parliament.
He says there’s none better in the state than Region 6.
“The volunteer hours which are put in by people to protect their community from bushfire for such a long period – the hours put in, the sacrifice that is made… it is something which is so rewarding to be part of.”
