Increased safety measures in store for Tumby Bay jetty

Following the recent protest for state funding at Tumby Bay jetty, SafeWork SA have ruled the structure is too easily accessible.

The organisation contacted the District Council of Tumby Bay to say they’re not satisfied with the safety measures in place.

The Council have been instructed to tighten restrictive measures at the entrance of the jetty and remove the ladders from the side.

The fine for failing to act on these instructions is in excess of $500,000.

Works to address SafeWork SA’s concerns began yesterday.
