It’s been over half a year since the Tumby Bay jetty closed, with discussions about its future continuing with the Department of Infrastructure and Transport.

In October last year, the jetty’s concrete encased piles were damaged due to combined swell and wind waves, reaching up to three metres in height, leaving the jetty closed to the public.

The Department has prepared a jetty business case, however the District Council of Tumby Bay says information provided to them regarding the case has been scant, making it difficult for them to keep the community informed.

Discussions on the jetty with elected members will reportedly be confidential and its anticipated meetings will focus on maintenance obligations, costs and ownership arrangements.

The council says once they come to an agreement on the proposals developed with the department, public consultations will commence.
