Deputy Premier and Minister for Environment and Water Susan Close visited Port Lincoln on Tuesday, 11 July, as Acting Premier to learn local concerns regarding the Billy Lights Point Desalination Plant.
Port Lincoln Mayor Diana Mislov and Council CEO Matthew Morgan explained the uneasiness around water security and the desalination plant’s potential impact on local industries.
Mayor Mislov says Minister Close has agreed to meet with concerned industries within the next month.
“She was open to either coming back to Port Lincoln, or for our industry leaders to meet with her in Adelaide; so, we’ll be working with her staff on some suitable arrangements for that,” Mayor Mislov said.
