The City of Port Lincoln has confirmed the Andrew Small Playground will be removed, despite concerns from the community.
A motion was raised by councillor Lillian Poynter to retain the playground on Monday’s council meeting, but it was lost.
Earlier this month, a number of council members reported feeling harassed from some residents, after the phone numbers of those who voted to remove the playground in an earlier motion were circulated in the community.
Mayor Diana Mislov said they’ll be some grief around the playground.
“A lot of residents have some great memories and attachment to that playground and a lot of them grew up playing on it,” she said.
“I think we have to be respectful on all fronts.”
