With just 4 days to go until environment minister Tanya Plibersek announces her decision on the Whalers Way Orbital Complex, the region’s other test range has made a big announcement.
Souther Launch is planning to launch the first rocket to reach space from the Koonibba Test Range, next year.
In partnership with Canadian firm Reaction Dynamics, the rocket will aim for an impressive altitude of 125kms above Earth.

Since 2020, four rockets have been launched from Koonibba, but this will mark a significant milestone as the first to achieve spaceflight.
