A new partnership between a major foundation and rural health group is set to boost the physical and mental health of farmers.
The Fat Farmers and Hospital Research Foundation partnership is hoped to help expand the program into more towns and encourage excersize and social connection among isolated farmers.
Fat Farmers was founded on the Yorke Peninsula 12-years-ago when three farmers in their 40’s joked they were putting on a few kilos after wrapping up their footy careers.
The organisation currently has groups in 18 towns including Wudinna, Wilmington, Port Lincoln, Kadina, Kimba, Maitland and Robertstown.
The offerings in each town vary, with some groups hosting running events while other do regular gym workouts.
