Port Lincoln to be better prepared for stormwater management

Port Lincoln’s Stormwater Management Plan was under discussion at the latest council meeting.

The plan was made in 2019 and has been revised to capture the current needs of Port Lincoln and stay within budget.

Mayor Diana Mislov says there are big plans over the next ten years.

“There’s $14.8 million worth of investment required over the next ten years – or planned over the next ten years – and some of the projects are quite big, Mayor Mislov says.

“Things like the Mortlock Terrace/Liverpool Street roundabout area… Flinders Highway where the water runs straight through down to Tasman Terrace, and then some other projects around Port Lincoln as well.”

The mayor says planning is vital.

“Sometimes they talk about these hundred-year events or twenty-year events and they just seem to happen more often.

“We have to be a bit more vigilant about planning for it, so that’s what we’ve done.”
