Eyre Peninsula farmers now have more knowledge under their belts to improve their on-farm practices after a recent meeting in Cummins.
Almost 50 growers, industry representatives and researchers came together on 27 February to share and hear the latest in soil and crop management research.
Ag Innovation and Research Eyre Peninsula Executive Officer Naomi Scholz says the event allowed the organisation to showcase its significant work in the region.
They have supported 27 research, development and education projects to assist agriculture and regional communities across the EP.
Ms Scholz says sharing research was not the only good thing to come out of the expo, adding that catching up with farmers was another bonus.
“Just getting everyone together after summer off and hearing all the research results from 2023 and some of the work that’s been going longer than that just getting summarised,” Ms Scholz says.
She explains why it’s so important to get everyone together in person.
“Having someone actually present it to you and put it in context of our farming system is really important, and also you get to hear other people’s questions… and pretty much the discussions at morning smoko and lunch are also really valuable – catching up and talking through what they’ve heard and how that applies to them.”
