South Australian space company Southern Launch have assured the community that Fishery Bay won’t ever close as a result of rocket launches.
Roads around Whalers Way will also remain open, with the company saying their operations will remain within the private land they lease for the Whalers Way Orbital Launch Complex.
Southern Launch Chief Operating Officer Rebecca Darcey says public safety is their top priority, and the company works with regulators to ensure that each flight trajectory does not impact the area surrounding Fishery Bay.
She says the general public will be able to access the bay throughout any launch campaigns and on launch days, saying they could even watch the launches from the beach.
