Northern Water Supply Project to bring economic prosperity

The Northern Water Supply Project could usher in significant economic prosperity. 

The project aims to provide water primarily for industrial and commercial use, featuring a 260ML per day desalination plant and a 600 km pipeline network.

SA Premier Peter Malinauskas believes the project – which is still in the planning phase – could fuel a copper mining boom and contribute to a green hydrogen hub on the Upper Spencer Gulf.

Premier Malinauskas emphasised the project’s importance for regional Australia and its role in harnessing South Australia’s copper reserves as demand for copper rises with global electrification efforts.
